I’ve been using the MGI Golf Cart Bag for about a year and a half now, and I wanted to share my personal experience with it to help you decide if it’s worth the investment.
If you’re considering this bag to go along with the MGI remote-controlled electric trolley (like the one I use), this MGI golf cart bag review will dive into what’s good, what’s not so great, and whether it lives up to the hype.
Key Features & Specifications

- Fully Waterproof Design: The MGI bag is marketed as fully waterproof, and after using it for a while, I can confirm it’s one of the best waterproof golf bags I’ve owned. It features waterproof zips and seals that protect your gear from rain, keeping your clubs and valuables dry.
- Waterproof Zips with Protective Covers: The zips have waterproof seams, but to ensure 100% waterproofing, you need to make sure the plastic retainer at the top of the zip is pushed inside properly. Once you do that, it becomes truly waterproof. It’s a small thing to remember, but it works well.
- Multiple Waterproof Pockets: The bag offers several well-placed pockets, including three waterproof ones at the front. There are also other useful compartments around the bag, including a side pocket for your umbrella, a soft-lined pocket for your phone, wallet, and car keys, and another large pocket for additional storage.
- Soft-Lined Pockets for Protection: One of my favorite features is the soft, fleece-lined pockets. These are perfect for protecting delicate items like your phone and watch, ensuring they don’t get scratched while you’re out on the course.
- Easy Carrying and Secure Trolley Fit: The bag comes with two carry handles for easy lifting and a waterproof cover with press studs that secures tightly around your clubs. When placing the bag on your trolley, you just pull the strap and clip it into place. It’s a simple process, and the bag stays securely in place throughout your round.
- Umbrella Holder: Another great feature is the dedicated pocket for your umbrella. It’s a small but practical addition that makes sure you’re prepared for unexpected weather.
Design & Build Quality

When it comes to design and build quality, the MGI Golf Cart Bag impresses.
The overall look is sleek, with functional pockets and storage compartments that allow for easy organization of your gear. The bag feels durable, and its material does a great job of keeping everything inside dry, even in heavy rain.
One thing I really appreciate is the zip system. The zips have a nice, sturdy feel, and the waterproof seams are a great feature.
However, you need to be extra cautious to ensure that the zips are fully closed and the retainer is in place, especially in heavy rain.
If you forget to do this, the waterproofing can be compromised. That said, when done right, the waterproofing works perfectly.

The bag also includes a carry handle that’s designed to fold away neatly when you’re using it on your trolley. This prevents the handle from getting tangled in the wheels, which is a thoughtful design detail.
The waterproof cover that comes with the bag is also easy to use and provides extra protection when needed.
It’s attached with press studs that help secure it over your clubs, adding an extra layer of waterproofing when you need it most.

Performance & User Experience

The performance of the MGI Golf Cart Bag is solid, particularly in wet weather.
I’ve used it during some pretty heavy rain, and the waterproofing really does its job—keeping my clubs dry and my gear safe.
As long as you make sure to zip up all the pockets correctly, you won’t have to worry about your equipment getting soaked. However, if you’re not careful with the zips, you might find that water seeps through, which can be frustrating.
The bag is easy to secure to the trolley.
You just use the carry handles to lift it onto the trolley, and the strap pulls around the base of the bag to lock it into place. It’s a simple system, and once it’s in place, it’s stable throughout your round.
One thing that I’ve noticed is that if you use sticky grips on your clubs, they can sometimes get a little stuck in the bag.
I have super-sticky grips, and I have to be a bit careful when putting my clubs in or pulling them out.

The material and the partitions inside the bag tend to grab onto the grips, so I have to push them in with a little more force than usual.
However, if you use regular grips, this won’t be an issue at all. This is something to keep in mind, depending on the type of grips you use.
Another thing worth mentioning is the cooler pocket. While it’s still useful, it doesn’t do as good a job as other bags I’ve had at keeping drinks cold.
The insulation isn’t as strong, and in summer, my drinks don’t stay cool for long.
I had a previous bag with a better-insulated cooler pocket, so I was a bit disappointed with how this one performs. It still works to some degree, but not as well as I expected.
Pros & Cons

Pros
- Excellent Waterproofing: The bag really holds up in rainy conditions, keeping your clubs dry.
- Multiple Pockets for Organization: Several waterproof pockets, including a soft-lined one for delicate items like phones and wallets, make this bag easy to organize.
- Soft Lining for Protection: The fleece-lined pocket helps protect electronics from scratches.
- Easy to Secure to Trolley: The bag fits easily on your trolley with simple straps and carry handles.
- Durable Build Quality: The bag feels solid and is built to last, even through rainy rounds.
- Umbrella Holder: A dedicated spot for your umbrella is a nice touch, ensuring you’re prepared for all weather conditions.
Cons
- Sticky Grips Can Be Difficult to Slide In and Out: If you have sticky grips on your clubs, the material inside the bag may catch on them, making it harder to get your clubs in and out.
- Cooler Pocket Insulation: The cooler pocket is not as insulated as other bags I’ve used, meaning drinks don’t stay cold as long.
- Waterproof Zips Need Care: You must be careful to fully zip the pockets and ensure the plastic retainer is in place for maximum waterproofing protection.
Final Verdict & Recommendation

After using the MGI Golf Cart Bag for a year and a half, I can confidently say that it’s one of the best waterproof bags I’ve had.
The bag does an excellent job of keeping your clubs dry, even in heavy rain.
I’ve had other bags in the past that promised waterproofing, but this one actually delivers. It’s easy to organize your gear with its multiple pockets, and the soft-lined compartments are a nice touch for keeping electronics safe.
That said, it’s not perfect. If you have super-sticky grips like I do, you may find it a little tough to get your clubs in and out of the bag.
Also, the cooler pocket could be better insulated, as it doesn’t keep drinks cold as effectively as some other bags.
✅ Despite these minor issues, I would still recommend the MGI golf cart bag to anyone looking for a durable, waterproof golf cart bag. The overall performance in rainy conditions and the thoughtful design make it worth considering.
